Biometrigram®

Identity fraud and the use of fraudulent documents to obtain products and services is a growing global problem. The use of biometrics, particularly in identification documents, is a means of ensuring the identity of the document holder. Biometrics are now being incorporated on a wide variety of documents such as ePassports, identity cards and access cards. In almost all cases, this involves storing the biometric information on an electronic chip.

Ver-tec have developed a novel method of storing biometric information using a volume hologram - the Biometrigram®. The hologram can incorporate multiple biometrics as well as other analogue images and even encrypted digital information within a single physical space or hologram. Advantages of the Biometrigram® include:

  • Rapid production of unique, individualised holograms
  • Robust, proprietary holographic materials
  • Multiple biometric storage, e.g. fingerprint, palm print, iris, etc.
  • High density, multiple image or information storage
  • Machine readable for authentication/verification
  • Verifiable against electronic chips for document authentication
  • Higher information densities than electronic chips
  • No susceptibility to skimming or electromagnetic damage
  • Overt/visible security features can be incorporated

The information on the Biometrigram® can be read and verified using low cost reader systems for 1 to 1 or 1 to many comparisons. These systems can also be incorporated into current infrastructure for biometric verification.
